Lighting Designer

Trudy Dalgleish graduated from NIDA after a three-year degree in technical Production. She was nominated for a ‘Mo’ Award for outstanding contribution to musical theatre. For her White Devil lighting design she was awarded a Helpmann Award (Best Lighting Design, Theatre) and she won an ‘Entech’ Award for Best Lighting Designer – Live Events. Trudy Dalgleish also won the John Truscott Design Award for Excellence, the Music Theatre Technical Design award for the lighting of Eureka at the Green Room Awards and most recently a Green Room award for best lighting for Hairspray. She was nominated for a Helpman award for the opera Dead Man walking , and a Green Room award for Boy form Oz , West Side Story and A Little Night Music .

In 2019 Trudy lit In the Heights at the Sydney Opera house , Saturday Night Fever for GFO , Wizard of Oz the arena spectacular for Harvest Rain , A Little Night Music for Victorian Opera and Macbeth for WA Opera . She was Associate Lighting Designer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Shrek for GFO .

In 2018 Trudy has lit The Tap Pack on the west end London , Carosel for WAPPA , Cunning Little Vixen for the WA Opera , All Out of Love the new Air Supply musical in Manila , Candide for NZ opera and Creative Generation and the Schools Spectacular for the QLD and NSW Education departments , she was the Associate lighting designer for Beautiful for Micheal Cassel , Wizard of Oz and Evita for GFO .

In 2017 Trudy lit Cat in the Attic , the Australian and New Zealand tour of Cat Stephens , Grease the arena version on an Australian tour and associate lighting designer on Bodyguard and Wizard of Oz for GFO and Beautiful for Micheal Cassel . She lit Cunning Little Vixen for the Victorian opera and a new Australian work Melba for Hayes theatre .

In 2016 Trudy lit Georgy Girl for Ricard East and Dennis Smith , Hairspary the arena version for Harvest Rain , Funny Girl for the production Company and Six Dance lessons in six weeks for the Ensemble theatre .

In 2015 Trudy lit the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Worlds Handball championships in Doha for DAE , Legends for GFO , Legally Blonde for Wappa , West Side story for the production company and was associate lighting designer for Dirty Dancing for GFO .

As one of Australia’s leading lighting designers Trudy has worked for company’s including Sydney Theatre company , Sydney Dance Company , Bangarra Dance Company and has designed many operas for Opera Australia and the Victorian and Western Australian Opera .

She was head of Lighting at the Sydney Entertainment centre for seven years where her designs included concerts , circus , rock concerts , sporting events and corporate events .

She has worked extensively all around the world including Broadway New York , London West End , Asia and the Middle East , Norway and France .
